John William Fordham Johnson

John William Fordham Johnson ( born November 28, 1866 in Spalding, England; † November 28, 1938 in Vancouver ) was a Canadian manager. From 1931 to 1936 he was vice- governor of the province of British Columbia.

Biography

Johnson completed an apprenticeship as an accountant. In 1888 he immigrated to the United States and settled in Portland, Oregon, where he worked in a branch of the Bank of British Columbia. Ten years later he moved to Vancouver, the headquarters of the Bank. In 1900 he moved to sugar processors BC Sugar Company and rose in the hierarchy upwards until he finally in 1920 president of the company was.

Johnson was also president of several other companies and was one of the most influential people of Vancouver. Governor General Lord Bessborough sworn him on 1 August 1931 as Vice- Governor of British Columbia. This representative office he held until May 1, 1936. Health problems forced him to resign.
