John Worrall (philosopher)

John Worrall ( born November 27, 1946 in Leigh ) is a British philosopher and philosopher of science. He is regarded as the representative of structural realism.

While the statistical studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science ( LSE) a lecture Karl Popper caught the attention of John Worrall in philosophy. Finally, he came under the influence of Imre Lakatos, where he received his doctorate. In 1971 he became a lecturer at the LSE in 1998 and just a professor of philosophy of science. His main interest is the theory change in science and its impact on Double theses of scientific rationality and scientific realism. Other interests of Worrall are philosophy and methodology in medicine and optics of the 19th century.
