John Zander

John Zander ( John Adolf Fredrik Zander, born January 31, 1890 in Stockholm, † June 9, 1967 ibid ) was a Swedish middle and long distance runners.

In the team race over 3000 meters of the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm, he came on the 10th place finish. Although he did not come as a fourth of the Swedish team in the points standings, he was like the rest of the team awarded a silver medal. Over 1500 meters he finished seventh.

In 1917 he exhibited two world records: July 12, with 8:35,7 min over 3000 m and on August 5 with 3:54,7 min over 1500 m. The 3000 -meter mark, he improved the following year, first on 15 July at 8:34,8 min and then on August 7 at 8:33,1 min.

In 1920, he did not reach at the Olympic Games in Antwerp about 1500 m in the final of the goal. In the 3000 -meter team race his placement was not detected.

Five times he was national champion in the 1500 m (1913, 1915-1918 ), twice each over 800 m (1912, 1913) and over 5000 m (1917, 1918) and once in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (1915 ).
