History

The start under John Walker (1820-1857)

After his father's death in 1819 sold John Walker and his mother the former family farm near Kilmarnock, and opened with the proceeds a general store in the village. Rise to international brand (1857-1925)

With the death of his father Alexander Walker took over the business and the task of whiskey blending. The phylloxera plague that almost destroyed the entire stock of French vines 1858-1863, the Walkers came as the entire Scottish whiskey production in this period benefited. When Alexander Walker died in 1889, his sons took over George Paterson Walker and Alexander Walker II together the management. Advertising and reception
