Johnny Aitken

Johnny Aitken, ( May 3, 1885 in Indianapolis, † October 15, 1918 ) was an American race car driver.

Johnny Aitken has at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway won more races than any other driver. This, however, were no victories in the 500-mile race. He won twelve races in 1909 and 1910. On September 9, 1916, three smaller races in Indianapolis were held, which were called "Harvest Classic". It was a 20 mile, a 50-mile and 100 - mile race. With a Peugeot Aitken won all three races. Only in the years 1911 and 1916, he took up with the 500 miles of Indianapolis. He fell out both times, in 1916, he started from the pole position.
