Johnny Bower

John William " Johnny" Bower ( born November 8, 1924 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who played from 1953 to 1970 for the New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League.

Career

At 17 he went to the military for four years and then played several years in the lower classes. Even in his first year with the New York Rangers he did not make the breakthrough and then when he moved to Toronto, he was playing his second season. At the start of his NHL career, he was already over 30 years old and when he was elected for the first time in the "First All-Star team," he was already 37 years. 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1967, he won the Stanley Cup with the Maple Leafs and 1970 when he ended his career, he was 45 years old.

In 1976 he was honored with induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame. 30 years later honored him the American Hockey League with the inclusion in the AHL Hall of Fame.
