Johnny Gray

Johnny Gray (actually: John Lee Gray Jr., born June 19, 1960 in Los Angeles ) is an American former 800 - meter runner.

Johnny Gray reached in all four participations in the Olympic Games, the finals, with the bronze medal at the 1992 Barcelona as a great success. 1984 in Los Angeles, he was seventh, in Seoul in 1988 and fifth in 1996 in Atlanta seventh.

At the World Athletics Championships 1987 in Rome, he reached the quarter-finals, was founded in 1991 in Tokyo and came sixth in Stuttgart in 1993 semi-finals.

In addition, he was seven times U.S. champion outdoors and triumphed at the Pan American Games in 1987 and 1999, where he was with the latter championship already 39 years old.

Gray is 1,93 m tall and weighed about 79 kg competition times. He was regarded by his aggressive running style, which was often characterized by a fast pace from the start of the race, as a classical time hunters. Due to the risk of claims to be breaking into the closing stages of the race, Gray was very popular with the public. He was trained by Merle McGee and started for the Santa Monica TC.
