Johnny Rivers

Johnny Rivers ( born November 7, 1942 as John Ramistella in New York City, USA) is an American rock 'n ' roll musician.

Biography

Rivers grew up in Baton Rouge and was influenced by the typical music of Louisiana. His career is closely connected to the Whisky a Go Go, a nightclub in Los Angeles. He mainly played the pieces after the other, in particular by Chuck Berry.

His performances were so successful that his first records were not studio recording, but the live recordings from the Whisky a Go-Go. His very first single, Memphis, came to number two in the U.S. charts and number one in the German charts. His first album, another live recording, earned him his first gold record. Other hits from this period were Secret Agent Man, Poor Side of Town, Summer Rain, Multiplication and Midnight Special.

He later founded his own record label, Soul City Records, and also wrote songs for other artists. In the 70 years he had again success with cover versions of Help Me Rhonda, Blue Suede Shoes, Rockin ' Pneumonia and Sea Cruise.

It is still active as a musician Johnny Rivers, both in the studio and on tour.
