Johnson City is the capital and the county seat ( county seat ) of the Blanco County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States.

Geography

The city lies at the intersection of U.S. Highways 281 and 290 almost centrally in the County in the central southeast Texas and has a total area of 3.5 km ² without significant water surface.

Demographic data

According to the census of 2000, there were 1,191 people in 442 households and 317 families. The population density was 343.2 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 89.67 % White, 0.00 % African American, 0.84 % Native American, 0.17 % Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander residents from the and 8.23 % from other ethnic groups. Approximately 1.09% were of mixed descent, and 20.57 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 442 households 36.9 % had children under the age of 18 living with them. 56.6 % were married couples living together. 11.3% were single mothers and 28.1 % were non-families. 24.0 % of all households were single-person households, and 12.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size amounted to 3.07.

28.0% of the population were under 18 years old, 6.5 % from 18 to 24, 27.3 % 25-44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 17.1 % who were 65 years or older. The average age was 37 years. For every 100 females of all ages were 88.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, 84.5 males.
