Johnson Outboards

Under the brand name of Johnson were mainly produced outboard motors in the United States under changing company name and sold worldwide.

The name comes from the from Terre Haute (Indiana, USA) originating founders, brothers Lou (* 1881, † 1963 in Florida), Harry ( * 1884) and Clarence (* 1895), sons of the Danish born Soren Johnson.

History

Motors

Johnson has previously always built two-stroke engines. According to the rules of the "EPA " and the " RCD " need new boat engines, among others comply with certain emission limits. This is not possible with conventional carburettor technology in two-stroke engines. Under the name of Johnson only small four-stroke motors are available now.
