Joinville-le-Pont
Joinville- le -Pont ( briefly called Joinville ) is a French town with 17,953 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Val -de- Marne in the Île- de -France region. The inhabitants are called Joinvillais.
Joinville- le -Pont borders southeast of Paris. Other neighboring municipalities are Nogent -sur- Marne, Champigny -sur- Marne, Saint- Maur- des-Fosses, Maisons- Alfort and Saint- Maurice. The Marne divides the city in Upper and Lower Town (Haute Joinville Joinville and Bas ), where the actual center is located in the Upper Town. Running through Joinville from the National Road 4
History
Joinville was originally connected to the town of Saint -Maur. After the French Revolution it was known as industry duPont de Saint -Maur. François d' Orléans, Prince of Joinville and son of Louis Philippe I. gave the place its name in 1831. Later, the addition of le Pont was amended to avoid confusion with the nearby Joinville in the Haute- Marne in Champagne. In September 1863, the French engineer and inventor Étienne Lenoir ran his constructed by him Motorkutsche Hippomobile of the Rue de la Roquette in the 11th arrondissement in Paris to Joinville -le- Pont and back. For a total of 18 km, it took about 3 hours
Joinville is connected with the RER A to the center of Paris. Trippers use the rail link to visit the local riverside bathing and fishing. Very aptly sings Bourvil the Sunday scene in the Chanson A Joinville- le- Pont. The melody of the song was composed by Bourvils accordionist Lorin Étienne in 1952. The author of the text is Roger Pierre.

Sports
There are four sports clubs where rowing, kayaking and canoeing is operated. Joinville is also the seat of the French Kayak and Canoe Association.
Twinning
Since 1960, Joinville sister city of Bensberg. ( The partnership will be continued by Bergisch Gladbach since the municipal reorganization in 1975. ) Additional partnerships with Runnymede in the UK, Batalha in Portugal, and Joinville ( Brazil).
