Joji Kato

Joji Katō (Japanese加藤 条 治, Katō Joji; born February 6, 1985 in Yamagata ) is a Japanese speed skaters.

At age 17, he was the first young athletes who ran the 500m under 35 seconds. Three years later he surprisingly won the 500m at the World Single Distance Championships in Inzell. After this success, he was considered a medal favorite at the Olympic Games in Turin ( 2006). However, the role of favorite, he was not just and finished sixth. At the Olympic Games 2010 in Vancouver Katō won over the 500m bronze medal. From 2005 to 2007 he held the 500m world record ( 34.30 ).

In the 2011 World Cup, he finished second in Inzell about 2 x 500 m.
