Jokioinen

Jokioinen [ jɔkiɔi̯nɛn ] ( swedish Jockis ) is a municipality in the south of Finland with 5651 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). It is located in the countryside Kanta -Häme, 9 km west of the city Forssa. The other neighboring communities of Jokioinen are Tammela, Somero, Ypäjä and Humppila.

The river flowing through it Loimijoki municipality of Jokioinen is about half of forests and agricultural land each. In addition to the community center belonging to the villages Jokioinen Haapaniemi, Jänhijoki, Kiipu, Lammi, Latovainio, Minkiö, Minkiön asema, Niemi, Ojainen, Pellilä, Rehtijärvi, Saari and Vaulammi.

The story of Jokioinen is closely linked with that of the established 1562 estate of the same name. The landed gentry built in Jokioinen in the 18th and 19th century factories and made the community one of the most important industrial centers of the region. The present main building was built 1794-1802, the three-storey granary with its distinctive bell tower in 1810. Jokioinen of The Church was built in 1631 and is one of the oldest wooden churches in the country. 1898 a narrow gauge railway between Humppila and Forssa was opened. From it a seven- kilometer section between the center of the village and Jokioinen Minkiö has been preserved, which is now traveled as a museum railway of historic trains.
