Jolly's mouse lemur

The Jolly mouse lemur ( Microcebus jollyae ) is a living primate in Madagascar from the kind of mouse lemurs within the group of lemurs. The species was first described in 2006, the name honors the primatologist Alison Jolly.

Jolly- mouse lemurs are very small primates with a body length 9-10 cm, a tail length of 12 centimeters and a weight of around 61 grams. Their fur is uniformly colored brown on the top, the belly and throat are white gray. The rounded head is characterized as with all mouse lemurs through the big eyes and big ears.

This primates inhabit rainforests in southeastern Madagascar, their range is approximately between the rivers Mananara and Mananjary. Over the life of these newly discovered species is still very little known. Like all mouse lemurs it is likely to be nocturnal and live predominately on the trees. Mouse lemurs are generally omnivores, which mainly feed on fruit and insects.

There is no precise information also about the level of danger. The IUCN lists the species under "too little data available " ( data deficient ).
