Jón Bjarnason

Jón Bjarnason ( born December 26, 1943 in Asparvík, Westfjords ) is an Icelandic politician.

Policy

Between 1999 and 2013, was Jón member of the Icelandic parliament Althingi, first for the (old ) North West constituency, since the reorganization of constituencies in 2003 for the North West constituency. Since 2009 he was chairman of the parliamentary group of the Left-Green Movement. Between 2009 to 2011, he headed the Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture.

Jón turned away from the Left-Green Movement and ran together with Atli Gíslason unsuccessfully for parliament in Iceland in 2013 for the party Regnboginn.
