Jonas Jonasson

Jonas Jonasson ( born July 6, 1961 in Växjö, Småland) is a Swedish journalist and writer.

Life

Jonasson worked after his studies in Gothenburg as a journalist for newspapers and Smålandsposten Expressen and as an independent media consultant. After 20 years of media activity Jonasson moved from Sweden to Ticino to Lake Lugano, since the autumn of 2011, he lives with his son again in Sweden.

Works

Jonasson first novel in 2009 under the original title Hundraåringen som klev ut genome fönstret och försvann published. In 2010, it was the best selling book in Sweden. The translation rights have been sold to 35 countries (as of July 2013). In Germany the book was published in August 2011 under the title The Hundred Years', which rose out of the window and disappeared, the Top 10 in early 2012 and reached the top of the Spiegel bestseller list in September 2011. Eleven months after the launch more than a million copies had been sold in Germany already. In December 2013 the Swedish cinema, the film adaptation of the novel by director Felix Herngren ran on. The theatrical release in Germany was on 20 March 2014.

In September 2013 Jonasson second novel, was published under the original title illiterate som customer räkna in Sweden. It is about a young African woman who, although illiterate, but a calculating genius and helps in the design of nuclear warheads. The German translation was published on November 15, 2013 under the title The illiterate who could count. Immediately after the publication of the book debuted at # 1 in the Spiegel bestseller list.
