Jonas of Bobbio

Jonas of Bobbio (c. 600 in Susa (Piedmont ); † after 659 ) was a monk and hagiographer.

In the year 618 he joined the the younger, founded by Columbanus Abbey Bobbio, where he was soon due to its remarkable for its time literary skills secretary of the abbots Atalla († 626) and Bertulf († 639), successor to the Irish founder. 628 he accompanied Abbot Bertulf to Rome. This commissioned Jonas of Bobbio to write a Life of Saint Columbanus. This is obtained as Vita Columbani.
