Jonathan Aitken

Jonathan William Patrick Aitken ( born August 30, 1942 in Dublin ) is a former British politician and member of the Conservative Party. It was in 1974 elected to the British House of Commons, 1992 Secretary of Defense and in 1994 Chief Secretary to the Treasury (Chief Secretary to the Treasury) in the cabinet of John Major.

In 1995, he stepped down from that position back, lost in the 1997 General Election his parliamentary seat and in 1999 he sentenced for perjury and perversion of justice to a 18-month prison sentence, of which he served seven months in prison. Cause of the previous corruption scandal was the television documentary Jonathan of Arabia of investigative journalists David Leigh of 1995.

Jonathan Aitken's father, William Aitken was from 1950 to 1965 also a British House of Commons Member of Parliament. His sister is the actress Maria Aitken Irish. He has four children, including twin daughters and a son, and an illegitimate daughter ( Petrina Khashoggi ) with the wife of arms dealer Khashoggi.
