Jonathan dos Santos Ramírez ( born April 26, 1990 in Monterrey ) is a Mexican- Spanish footballer. The midfielder plays for FC Barcelona.
Career
In the 2008 /09 season Jonathan dos Santos was captain of the A- youth of FC Barcelona. This season he also gained Spanish citizenship, which made it possible for him to play in the first team. For the season 2009/10 Luis Enrique appointed him to the team of FC Barcelona B, the reserve team of FC Barcelona. On 15 August 2009 he was nominated for the Supercopa de España game between FC Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao, but did not play. His first game for Barcelona B he played 5 September 2009 against RCD Mallorca B.
His first competitive match for the first team graduated Jonathan dos Santos on 28 October 2009 at the cup match against Cultural Leonesa when he came in to replace Seydou Keita. On January 2, 2010 dos Santos played his first league match for FC Barcelona, as he stood in the 1-1 draw against Villarreal in the starting lineup.
On 2 June 2010 he extended his contract until 2012. This contract was extended until 30 June 2015, on 24 November 2011. Since the 2012/13 season dos Santos is in the first team squad.
National
For the Mexican National Team dos Santos completed so far six matches, his debut was on 29 September 2009 in a friendly against Colombia. On May 2, 2010 dos Santos was appointed by the Mexican coach Javier Aguirre in the provisional World Cup squad. With the announcement of the final squad but he was one of the three players that have been deleted. End of June 2011 were blocked by the Mexican Association for half a year dos Santos and seven of his teammates the Mexican U -22 National Team.
