Jonathan Erdmann

Jonathan Erdmann ( born March 12, 1988 in Potsdam ) is a German volleyball and beach volleyball player.

Career beach volleyball

Erdmann starting with the 2004 beach volleyball. His first partner, with whom he competed in junior tournaments, were Erik Weber and Marcus Benthien. With Stefan Windscheif he came later in the U18 European Championships in 2004 in Mysłowice and a year at the World Championships in the same age group in each case on the fourth. 2006 won Erdmann Windscheif with the U20 European Championship in Ankaran and Marvin Klass the U19 World Cup in Bermuda. He was also with Tilo Backhaus ninth of the U21 World Cup in Mysłowice. In 2007, Erdmann / Klass in Zagreb for the first time in an open tournament of the FIVB World Tour part. In the U20 European Championship in Scheveningen they finished fifth. With Windscheif Erdmann took third place at the U21 World Championship in Modena. Followed in 2008, fourth place at the U23 European Championships in Espinho ( with Windscheif ) and the ninth place at the U21 World Championship in Brighton ( with Klass ). Reached in 2009 Erdmann / Windscheif in ninth in Shanghai and Seventh in Rome for the first time top ten results on the World Tour.

Subsequently formed Erdmann a new duo with Kay Matysik. Erdmann / Matysik participated in the 2009 World Championships in Stavanger, but left as a group of third after the first round. In the same year they played their first Grand Slams and finished fourth of the German championship. In 2010 she reached in Rome, Stavanger and Klagenfurt each ninth place. At the World Championship 2011 in Stavanger she lost her first round match against German rivals Klemperer / Koreng, but still managed to win the group; in the second round they dropped out with a 1-2 against the Latvians Plavins / Šmēdiņš. At the World Tour they succeeded after a series of three ninth places and a fourth in Stare Jabłonki. Even more successful they were at the European Championship in Kristiansand. There they defeated after a group stage without losing a set in the knockout phase three Dutch duo before they lost in the purely German final against Julius Brink and Jonas Recker man. The following year, they had to, however, at the European Championships in Scheveningen in the second round the Dutch Boersma / Spijkers beaten. At the World Tour 2012 they reached six times the fifth. They also qualified for the Olympic Games in London. After they had come across the Lucky- Loser- round group Third last sixteen, she dropped out against the eventual finalists Emanuel / Alison. A month later they were in Timmendorfer beach by a final victory against Koreng / Walkenhorst German masters. 2013, it occupied the Grand Slam in Rome the fifth. At the World Championships in Stare Jabłonki they made it to the semifinals without dropping a set. After the defeat against the Dutch Brouwer / Meeuwsen they secured with a win against Alison / Emanuel the bronze medal. At the European Championships in Klagenfurt they reached the fifth place. Due to a shoulder injury from Matysik they could not defend their national title.

Career Indoor Volleyball

Erdmann began in 1998 at his hometown club WSG Potsdam Forest City with the Volleyball Hall. Then he played in the youth team VC Olympia Berlin before it was committed in 2006 by the Bundesliga's newly Netzhoppers King Wusterhausen. In the 2008 /09 season he reached the fourth place in the Bundesliga with the team. 2010/11 he was still a season at second division SV Lindow / Gransee active.
