Jonathan Erlich

Jonathan Dario Erlich (Hebrew יונתן דאריו " יוני " ארליך; born April 5, 1977 in Buenos Aires, Argentina) is an Israeli tennis player. In his career, he was a total of 14 tournaments in a double - including a Grand Slam tournament - win, most of them with his doubles partner Andy Ram.

Biography

Jonathan Erlich was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1977. When he was one year old, emigrated with his family to Haifa, Israel. He now lives in Tel Aviv.

Erlich began playing at the age of three years of tennis. His first tournament he played me seven. He later coached at Wingateinstitut for athletes in Israel, where he also met his future partner in a double Andy Ram. He was at the age of 19 years professional tennis player in 1996.

Tennis career

1996-2005

2003 won Erlich and Ram in the quarterfinals at Wimbledon against Mark Knowles and Daniel Nestor, 7:610, 7:62, 7:67, but lost the subsequent semi-final against Jonas Bjorkman and Todd Woodbridge. At that time they were the first Israeli doubles pair that has ever been in a Grand Slam semifinal.

In September of the same year the duo's first tournament was won in doubles, the Thailand Open.

The second tournament win of the duo followed only a month later by winning the Grand Prix de Lyon, opposite the french Julien Benneteau and Nicolas Mahut. In 2004 she won the tournament again, this time against Jonas Björkman and Radek Stepanek, 7:62, 6:2. Also in 2004, they arrived at the Olympic Games in Athens in the quarterfinals.

In the ATP doubles ranking, they were conducted in late 2005 as a number 8 and 9 of the ranking.

2006 to present

In the first tournament week of the 2006 season Erlich and Ram won the doubles competition of the ATP tournament in Adelaide. In March, she defended the double title of the Red Letter Days Open, against the Russians Dmitry Tursunov and Igor Kunizyn, 6:3, 6:2.

In November 2006, they won against the No. 1 ranked Bob and Mike Bryan at the Tennis Masters Cup in China, 7:62, 2:6, 6:1, and in August of the same year, again at the ATP Masters in Cincinnati, 4: 6, 6-3, [ 13:11 ].

In 2008 she achieved her greatest success by winning the doubles title at the Australian Open. Opponent in the final was the French Arnaud Clément and Michaël Llodra. What was remarkable was that the two charges is no single set in the tournament.

In March 2008, Erlich and Ram also won the Indian Wells, where they contested the final against Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic.
