Jonathan Huberdeau

Jonathan Huberdeau ( born June 4, 1993, Saint- Jérôme, Quebec ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player. Since 2013 he plays for the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League ( NHL ) on the position of the center.

Career

Jonathan Huberdeau played for the Vikings de Saint- Eustache in Quebec junior league before he was drafted in 2009 in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League entry draft in the first round to 18th position of the Saint John Sea Dogs. In the 2009/10 QMJHL season, the striker completed 61 games in the regular season for the Sea Dogs, scoring 35 points scorer. In the subsequent play-offs, the team reached the QMJHL final and defeated Moncton Wildcats there in the best- of-seven series 4-2 games.

In the season 2010/11 Huberdeau increased its score significantly. The Canadians completed 67 games in the regular season, scoring 105 points, that he was the third-best scorer in the league. In the play-offs, the Sea Dogs reached the finals again. There she sat down by Gatineau Olympiques against and won the Coupe du Président. Huberdeau was awarded in connection with the Guy Lafleur Trophy as most valuable player of the playoffs. When KHL Junior Draft 2011, the striker was selected in the first round to a total of Vityaz Chekhov fifth position. Huberdeau was surprised by this election and said he would not play for the team. A little later he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2011 by the Florida Panthers in the first round of the third overall position. In October 2011, he signed an entry-level contract over three years with the Panthers.

In the 2011/12 season Huberdeau played but once again for his junior team, for which he, however, only in 37 games was on the ice. Nevertheless, the Center was able to record 72 points scorer and was 53 with the best plus / minus balance in the league. In the play-offs, the Sea Dogs broke again prior to the finals and successfully defended her title there with a sweep against the Océanic de Rimouski. Since delayed due to the lockout the start of the NHL season 2012/13 until January, 2013, Huberdeau first played again in Saint John. After again with 45 points scorer led the statistics of his team in the QMJHL in 30 games, he was called up to the season in the NHL squad of the Florida Panthers. In his debut game against the Carolina Hurricanes Huberdeau was able to score a goal and prepare two more.

Internationally

Jonathan Huberdeau took the Canadian national team for the first time at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament in 2010. The striker came in five games for use, scoring three assists. The Canadians won at this tournament after a final victory against the U.S. Selection the gold medal.
