Jonathan Levin (economist)

Jonathan Levin ( born November 17, 1972) is an American economist. He is Professor of Economics at Stanford University. Levin received the 2011 John Bates Clark Medal.

Life

Levin studied English (BA, 1994) and mathematics (BS, 1994) at Stanford University. In 1996 he completed his M.Phil. in Economics from Oxford University. He received his Ph.D. in Economics in 1999 at MIT. After postdoctoral research at Yale University, he is at Stanford since 2000 professor.

Work

Levin's research focuses on industrial organization and in particular the design of market institutions and the economics of contracts and organizations. In addition, he has done research on sub-prime markets, insurance and Internet markets.
