Jonathan Mason (Massachusetts politician)

Jonathan Mason ( born September 12, 1756 in Boston, Massachusetts, † November 1, 1831 ibid ) was an American politician ( Federalist Party), who represented the state of Massachusetts in both chambers of Congress.

After attending the Boston Latin School Jonathan Mason continued his education at the College of New Jersey, later Princeton University, fort, where he made his degree in 1774. He then studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1779 and commenced practice in Boston.

His first political mandate practiced Mason 1786-1796 as a deputy in the House of Representatives from Massachusetts. From 1797 to 1798 he was a member of the Advisory Board ( Governor's Council) of Governor Increase Sumner; 1799-1800 he was a state senator.

Following the resignation of U.S. Senator Benjamin Goodhue Mason was elected as his successor. He held that post November 14, 1800 to March 3, 1803, then worked again as a lawyer and worked again as a state politician in the Senate ( 1803-1804 ) and in the House of Representatives ( 1805-1808 ). On 4 March 1817 he returned to his election to the House of Representatives of the United States once again to Washington DC back; this mandate, he resigned on 15 May 1820 to pursue his profession as a lawyer again.
