Jonathan Pittis

Jonathan Pittis ( born January 25, 1982 in Calgary, Alberta ) is an Italian- Canadian professional ice hockey player who is under contract with SG Pontebba in the Italian Serie A1 since January 2011. His older brother Domenico is also a professional hockey player.

Career

Pittis began his career at the University of Michigan, for his hockey team, he ran aground in the National Collegiate Athletic Association from 2000 to 2004. He graduated in four years, a total of 140 games in which he scored 76 points scorer and received 116 penalty minutes. He was never drafted by an NHL franchise and signed for season 2004/ 05 a contract with the Italian club AS Varese Hockey. In Varese, he gained his first experience in professional hockey, as he played 35 games in the series A1 and could reach 25 points and 50 penalty minutes. He moved in 2005 to league rivals Asiago, with whom he signed a two year contract. In Asiago he managed to improve his points haul. He scored a total of 80 points scorer in 85 games for the club. In 2007 he left the club and joined the HC Bolzano. Although he initially with his performances somewhat subsided in Bolzano, he was able to get several titles with the team within a few years. He won with Bolzano, among others in the years 2008 and 2009 the Italian championship. The center scored in the championship season of 2008/ 09 in 42 games a total of 46 points for Bolzano.

After the 2009/10 season when his contract was not renewed and HC Bolzano Pittis was initially without a club before he was signed in January 2011 by SG Pontebba.

Internationally

The Canadian-born, who also has Italian citizenship, took part with the Italian national ice hockey team to the A World Championships in 2007, 2008 and 2010. He scored two goals in nine games. For the B- World Cup in 2009, he was not nominated. For the B- World Cup 2011 Pittis received another nomination in the Italian squad and contributed an assist in four games to a rebirth in the top division.
