Jonckheere (now VDL Jonckheere ) is a Belgian manufacturer of travel and buses.

History

1881 Henri Joncheere began in Beveren near Roeselare in the Belgian province of West Flanders in the construction of horse-drawn carriages. 1902, the first car was produced in 1922 was Henri's son Joseph Jonckheere build the first bus body. After the Second World War, luxury coaches, city and intercity buses, articulated buses, and heavy buses for export worldwide, and special bodies were offered. In the 1970s, Jonckheere brought his series Bermuda on the market, which appeared in the UK in 1977 and was produced until 1982. In Germany Jonckheere was spread almost exclusively for buses of the Belgian Army.

Jonckheere 1981 celebrated its centenary with the Touringbus series Jubilee. This series included a low-floor model P35, the ordinary model P50/P599, model P799 with a low-floor cockpit, the model P90 as sesquiplane with a large rear lounge and the model P99 as a biplane. 1989 brought the Jonckheere Deauville series on the market. In 1994, added the double -decker model Monaco. In 1996, the Coach model Mistral was introduced in two heights (50 and 70). It was produced until 2007 and replaced by the model SHV. 1994 Jonckheere part of Berkhof Groep, which was acquired four years later by the VDL Groep. In Europe Jonckheere introduced a high-quality coach model. The SH series was initially available on the chassis of the rear-engined Volvo B12B. The demonstrator had a height of 3.80 m. The body was initially based also on the Volvo B12M, later on the Volvo B9R. There were long 14 -meter versions on the chassis of the Volvo B12BT and B13R and bodies on DAF and Nissan base.
