Jones County (Mississippi)

The County is located in the central south east of the Mississippi, is about 50 km to the east of Alabama and has an area of 1812 square kilometers, of which 15 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered by the following counties:

History

The Jones County was formed on January 24, 1826 from parts of Covington County and Wayne County. It was named after John Paul Jones, a naval officer.
