Jonny Otten

Jonny Otten ( born January 31, 1961 in Hagen ) is a former German football player.

Career

Youth

As a youth player of the Hagen SV ( football section today: FC Hagen- Uthlede ) Jonny Otten graduated in the 1978/79 season in the DFB -A- junior national team 17 caps for Germany. As A Teenager, he was appointed on 20 March 1979 in the German national football team of amateurs playing in Schwenningen against Italy. In May 1979 he was DFB player in the UEFA tournament.

Bundesliga

The defender Otten began his professional career in 1979 at SV Werder Bremen and experienced his greatest disappointment as a football player in his first season as a professional. Together with David Watson of Manchester City and Thomas Schaaf of Werder 's own youth he had come as a new addition to the Weser. His club Werder rose for the first time from out of the Bundesliga. However, Otten remained in Bremen and went back a year later to the first division. Under coach Otto Rehhagel he developed into one of the best left -back in the Bundesliga. After he had been involved in 1982 in the final game of a German B- team against the Portuguese selection, he was appointed in 1983 by German coach Jupp, outfitted in the German national soccer team. But his international career ended after only six missions before the European Football Championship 1984 in France. Derwalls successor Franz Beckenbauer took Otten never return to the national team.

His athletic achievements celebrated Jonny Otten in the jersey of SV Werder by winning the German championship in 1988, the DFB Cup in 1991 and the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1992. During summer 1992, he moved to the second league to VfB Oldenburg, where he started his professional career ended after just two appearances for VfB. Later he played for BV Cloppenburg (Spring 1994), SG Schoenberg 95 and the Rotenburg SV.

In 308 Bundesliga games Otten scored a goal in 43 second division games two goals (41/ 2 SV Werder, 2/0 VfB Oldenburg). He is also with the above Erstligastatistik (308 games, 1 goal ) of the field player with the most games in the first division, who has only scored a goal ( Goal to 7:1 when 8:1 SV Werder against Kickers Offenbach on 26 November 1983 in his 110th Bundesliga game).
