Jonsdorf

Jonsdorf (Czech: Janov ) is a nationally recognized health resort in the Zittau Mountains. The Saxon municipality in the district Görlitz belongs to the administrative community Olbersdorf.

Geography

Jonsdorf located in several basins distributed in the Zittau Mountains on the border with North Bohemia (Czech Republic). The place is surrounded by several mountains such as the book mountain and the Jonsberg. History

The first mention Jonsdorf was 1539. Cölestinerkloster The Oybin sold land to ten settlers. In 1574 the property was sold Oybiner by Maximilian II to the city of Zittau and Jonsdorf the village council. In Jonsdorf the league ice hockey club EHC plays Jonsdorfer hawks.

Traffic

Jonsdorf is off the major roads. The place has the Zittau Narrow Gauge Railway a railway connection, but which is used almost exclusively for tourism. The former station was converted into a restaurant and guesthouse.
