Jools Holland

Julian Miles Holland, OBE ( born January 24, 1958 in Blackheath, London ) is a British pianist, bandleader and television presenter.

Holland was a founding member in 1974 as keyboardist of the band Squeeze, which he left in August 1980. His solo career began in 1978 with the EP Boogie Woogie '78. 1987 Holland laid the foundation for his 18-strong touring band, The Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, which is often reinforced by the singers Sam Brown and Ruby Turner.

His career as a TV presenter began as co-host of the music show The Tube with Paula Yates. Since 1992, he presented the show Later with Jools Holland in which he imagines both well-known artists and newcomers of different musical directions.

Jools Holland has played with many musical greats, these include Van Morrison, Peter Gabriel, David Gilmour, Chuck Berry, BB King, Tom Jones, Sugababes, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Pearl Jam, Norah Jones, Paolo Nutini, Beverley Knight, Sting, James Dean Bradfield, Herbert Grönemeyer and many others.

In June 2003, Holland was nominated for his services to the British music industry to the Officer of the British Empire. On August 29, 2005 Holland married at St James' Church in Cooling, Kent his longtime partner Christabel McEwen, a sculptor.

Jools Holland was on 29 November 2002 with singer Sam Brown at the Concert for George in London's Royal Albert Hall this. At this concert, a year after George Harrison's death, they were represented titled Horse to the Water.

Holland lives in Westcombe Park at Blackheath in south- east London.
