Joost Winnink

Joost Winnink (* June 30, 1971 in Peize, Drenthe ) is a former Dutch tennis player.

Life

Winnink 1989 played his first match on the ATP Challenger Tour, but he was able in 1991 to win a match in the main draw at the tournament in Bangalore. In the meantime, he played on the ATP Satellite Tour to collect the world ranking points. He had a first minor success in 1991 with the semi-finals in the doubles competition of the Challenger tournament in Bossonnens on the side of the Croats Saša Hiršzon. In 1992, he stood next to Tomas Anzari first time in a doubles final. He won his first of seven double titles on the ATP Tour in 1993. On the ATP World Tour its greatest success was in the finals at the South African Open 1995. Alongside Martin Sinner he defeated the French pairing Rodolphe Gilbert and Guillaume Raoux in three sets. His best individual result on the ATP World Tour in the same year he had in Ostrava, as he victories against Javier Frana and David Prinosil reached the quarterfinals as a qualifier, where he lost in three sets Patrik Kuhnen. Its highest listing in the tennis world ranking he reached in 1995 with position 152 in the individual as well as position 101 in doubles.

His best individual result at a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the second round at the U.S. Open in 1995 when he won a qualifier against Greg Rusedski. In the doubles competition, he reached in each case once the second round at the U.S. Open and the Australian Open.
