Jordan 196

The Jordan 196 was a Formula 1 racing car with which the Jordan - Peugeot team took part in the Formula 1 1996 season. It was designed by Gary Anderson, who worked as a designer for Jordan since 1990.

In the first race of the season the Jordan 196 was still painted in a light shade of yellow to match the finish on the main sponsor Benson & Hedges They changed the known gold tone later.

The drivers were Rubens Barrichello, who already denied his fourth season for Jordan, and Martin Brundle, who moved from Ligier after the 1995 season to Jordan.

The best result of the season was achieved at the Grand Prix of Italy, where Barrichello in fourth and Brundle came in fifth. At the end of the season Jordan finished with 22 points for fifth place in the constructors' championship.

The Jordan 196 was powered by a Peugeot A12 V10 engine with 3000 cm3 displacement. During transmission, it was a semi-automatic Jordan -7 -speed gearbox. The fuel was supplied by Total. The tire was referring to, as all teams in the 1996 season of Goodyear.
