History
The name Jordan was elected by the people in honor of the local saint John the Baptist. According to local legend, he shielded the inhabitants in the Spanish colonial period before the Moroaufständen.
1941, the municipality of Nueva Valencia was formed on the territory of the municipality of Jordan. In July 1995 the formation of the city municipalities of San Lorenzo and Sibunag followed in the area of the municipality of Jordan, thus increasing the number of barangays decreased from 33 to 14.
