Jorge Bornhausen

Jorge Konder Born Hausen ( born October 1, 1937 in Rio de Janeiro) is a Brazilian politician and lawyer.

Life and Politics

Jorge Born Hausen is a member of Democratas and was president of its predecessor Partido da Frente Liberal. Under his leadership, the party impeachment proceedings against Lula da Silva tried to initiate in the summer of 2005. They found it unlikely that he was unaware of the corruption in his environment.

From 1979 to 1982, Jorge Born Hausen Governor of Santa Catarina. From 1983 to 1991 and 1999 to 2007 he was a member of the Brazilian Senate for Santa Catarina. In the meantime, he served from 1997 to 1999 as his country's ambassador in Portugal.

Born Hausen is the son of the politician Irineu Born Hausen, who was from 1951 to 1956 governor of Santa Catarina.
