Jorge Carlos Fonseca

Jorge Carlos Fonseca ( born October 20, 1950 in Mindelo ) is a Cape Verde politicians. Since 2011 he has been President of Cape Verde.

Fonseca studied at the University of Lisbon Law and Policy. At this university he later had a guest professorship and was its president. He was a founding member of the party, Movimento para a Democracia. From 1975 to 1979 he worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and from 1991 to 1993 he was Minister of Foreign Affairs of his country. Fonseca is married to Lígia Fonseca.
