Jorge Costa

Jorge Paulo Costa Almeida ( born October 14, 1971 in Porto ) is a former Portuguese football player and current coach. He will Bicho (Animal) or Tanque called ( tanks ) by his peers and fans.

Career as a player

Association

Costa joined the 1989/90 season for the first team of FC Porto. Previously, he played for the youth department of the dragon. But before he had his first competitive use for postage should pass three years. In the first year he trained mostly with the first team and was active for the reserve. Career as a coach

In June 2008 he signed a contract with the Portuguese second division SC Olhanense, with the end of season 2008/ 09 promotion to the Liga Sagres it. In summer 2010, he moved to league rivals Académica de Coimbra, but in December 2010 he already left again in the course of the first round. After the last round of the League 1 2010/11 Jorge Costa was presented as successor by Alin Minteuan in office as head coach of CFR Cluj on May 22, 2011. Although CFR was the leader, Costa was released on April 8, 2012 after the 0-5 home defeat in the championship game against Rapid Bucharest and replaced by Ioan Andone.

In October 2012 Costa signed a two -year contract with AEL Limassol. After another station in Cyprus Anorthosis Famagusta, Costa returned in February 2014 FC Paços de Ferreira back to Portugal.

National

In 1991 he was World Junior Champion with Portugal. He participated in all six matches.

He was for many years with a very good defender Fernando Couto - Duo. Together they were both nominated for the Portuguese squad for the Euro 2000 in Belgium and the Netherlands.

After the Football World Cup 2002 in Japan and South Korea, he retired from the national team.
