Jorge Rossy

Jorge Rossy ( born 1964 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish jazz drummer and pianist.

Rossy began as a trumpeter before switching to the drums, he studied at the Berklee School of Music in Boston. He played among other things with Joshua Redman, Perico Sambeat, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Mark Turner and Paquito D' Rivera ( and took with Marc Johnson, Chick Corea, Jimmy Knepper, and Danilo Perez ). With Seamus Blake 1995 he played in the band "The Bloomdaddies ". He became known as a drum partner in a trio of Brad Mehldau from 1995 to 2005 ( with Larry Grenadier on bass ). Thereafter, he concentrated on teaching in San Sebastian, and from 2007 at the Academy of Music in Basel. Besides the drums, he also plays the piano.
