Jorge Suarez Carbajal

Jorge Suarez Carbajal ( born March 13, 1986 in Oviedo ) is an Asturian bagpipers. He was 2004 Champion of Asturias and took four consecutive years, the Principality at the MacCrimmon Trophy (formerly Macallan Trophy ) at the Festival Interceltic de Lorient. In 2011 he received the AMA's - prize for the best bagpipers issued by the Anuario de la Música de Asturias (Yearbook of Music in Asturias).

Career

He started in 1994 in the schools of Suares ( Asturias ) to play the bagpipes at Eugenio Otero. In 1997 he became a member of Banda Gaites Norena. With this band, he traveled to Asturias and Spain and also played in Portugal. In 2000, he won 14 - year the first prize at the regional presented by Teresa Rabal competition for children " Veo Veo " finale, along with a group of Rhythmic Gymnastics of Gijon.

From March 2000 to 2003, he was taught by Xuacu Amieva. With his brother Carlos, he plays with several regional dance groups from Asturias, such as the Asociación Foklórica " Onis ". In 2003, he took third place at the Festival de Lorient Interceltic in the Macallan Trophy de Gaita. On 18 June 2004 he won the final of the Memorial draw Ovalle in Oviedo. In 2006 he had reached the second place in the MacCrimmon Trophy on Interceltic de Lorient and was surpassed only by the Asturian Piper Ruben Alba. In addition to the bagpipes playing, he is currently studying Engineering Surveying at the University of Oviedo.
