Jorma Ollila

Jorma Jaakko Ollila ( born August 15, 1950 in Seinäjoki ) was chairman and CEO of the Finnish telecommunications company Nokia. He has worked since 1985 at Nokia. He was President and CEO of Nokia, the Nokia 1995 Member - Board and 1999 Chairman and CEO in 1992. On 1 June 2006 he handed over the office to his successor, Olli -Pekka Kallasvuo.

1992, the year of the rise of Jorma Ollila to the CEO, Nokia introduced the first time forth GSM mobile phones. Under his leadership in 1994 the rubber, cable and television production have been sold, and the company concentrated on the telecommunications, the first signs of an incipient boom drew away. Ollila, as head of the mobile division, was promoted to CEO, the same year represents Nokia's first GSM mobile phone, the " Talkman " before.

On 1 August 2005 Nokia announced that Jorma Ollila to be June 1, 2006 by the chief of Nokia mobile phone division, Olli -Pekka Kallasvuo replaced, but as non-executive chairman at the company's 'm available.

On 4 August 2005, the Royal Dutch Shell in London appointed Jorma Ollila with effect from 1 June 2006 for the Non-Executive Chairman.

Ollila is married with Liisa Annikki and the couple have three children ( Jaakko, Anna and Matti ). After his education at Atlantic College, he received degrees as Master of Political Science (1976, University of Helsinki ), Master of Economics (1978, London School of Economics) and as a Master of Engineering (1981, Helsinki University of Technology ). He has won two honorary Dr. (1995, University of Helsinki, Helsinki University of Technology 1998 ).

Prior to his career at Nokia Ollila was from 1978 to 1985 worked at Citibank.

Ollila is also a member of the Steering Committee ( Steering Committee ) of the Bilderberg conferences and served as Vice Chair of the Council of Elders for the future of Europe.

In 2006 he was elected to the European Manager of the Year. As early as 2000 he had been awarded as part of the St. Gallen Symposium of the Freedom Prize of the Max Schmidheiny Foundation.
