Jos Luhukay ( born June 13, 1963 in Venlo, Limburg) is a former Dutch football player and current football coach of Hertha BSC.

Origin

Jos Luhukays father was born in the Moluccas, which now belong to Indonesia; he fled to the Netherlands, because the situation on the islands was life threatening and later learned to know a Dutch woman Luhukays mother. Both parents died early.

Career as a player

Jos Luhukay always played in the midfielder position. He began his career at the age of 15 in his hometown at the Dutch club VVV -Venlo. After four years he moved in 1982 to SV Venray, where he remained until 1984. He then played two years for VOS Venlo, until he returned in 1986 to VVV Venlo. In 1989 he moved to June 1991 SVV Schiedam. During his last Dutch club, the RKC Waalwijk, he played from July 1991 to June 1993. Luhukay 1989 was part of the Kleurrijk Elftal, the team that lost his life to a large extent the Surinam Airways Flight 764. In the summer of 1993, he joined after 15 years and 139 missions in the Eredivisie (27 goals) and 48 second division games ( 12 goals) in the Netherlands to Germany. Career as a coach

A month after finishing his playing career, he became the SV Straelen as head coach. Two years later he moved to KFC Uerdingen with which he finished in 2002 in the Regionalliga Nord fifth place in the DFB Cup with wins against Energie Cottbus and Werder Bremen caused a sensation. After Heynckes had resigned on 31 January 2007, Luhukay took over the post of the head coach.
