Josane Sigart

Josane Sigart ( born January 7, 1909 in Brussels; † August 20, 1999 married Jean De Meulemeester from Bruges ) was a Belgian tennis player. She played for the Royal Club Léopold. She was married to John (Jean) De Meulemester. 2001, she was awarded among the nations together with her husband and other members of the family of De Meulemeester honorary title just.

Achievements

After Sigart had become 1931 Belgian champion in doubles with Francine Isaac, she won the following year at Wimbledon along with the French Doris Metaxa in their second finals, the women's doubles against Elizabeth Ryan and Helen Jacobs. In 1933, she again reached the local finals, this time in mixed with Harry Hopman. In the same year she failed there in women's singles in the second round. Sigart was Belgian Champion in Single 1928, 1929, 1931, 1932 and 1936.
