José Ángel Ziganda

José Ángel Ziganda ( born October 1, 1966 in Larráinzar ) is a Spanish football manager and former player.

Playing career

In his career, " Cuco " Ziganda always remained connected his home so that he ultimately ran aground in his 14 years as a professional only for CA Osasuna and Athletic Bilbao. As an active player, he was an extremely prolific scorer. The total budget for him 145 goals in official competitions to Beech (111 in La Liga, 19 in the Segunda División, nine in the UEFA Cup and six in the Copa del Rey ).

Once he was even allowed to ran for the Spanish national team ( in 1991 at 0-2 against Romania), but it remained his only use for the " Selección ".

Coaching career

For the season 2006/ 07 Cuco Ziganda took over as coach of Atlético Madrid for Javier Aguirre exchanged Mexicans. After a weak start and leaving in qualifying for the UEFA Champions League inexperienced in professional football coach stood fast against a premature stop, but with four wins in a row and the next round in the Copa del Rey Ziganda could save his job. At the end of the season had been well kept up in the Copa del Rey and failed only in the UEFA Cup semi-finals to eventual winners Sevilla FC.

On 13 October 2008 Ziganda was released at CA Osasuna after a weak start to the season with just four points from their first six games.
