José de Almeida Batista Pereira

José de Almeida Pereira Batista (* June 27, 1917 in São Gonçalo, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, † 30 January 2009 ) was Roman Catholic bishop of Sete Lagoas and later by Guaxupé.

Life

José de Almeida Batista Pereira studied Catholic theology and philosophy at the seminary in Ipiranga and the Salesians in São João del Rei. On 22 December 1940 he was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Niterói. He taught at the seminars in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Niterói. At the seminary in São José he was rain.

1953 Pope Pius XII appointed him. Titular Bishop of Bari in Pisidia and appointed him auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Niterói. 1955 he was appointed first bishop of Sete Lagoas. Pope Paul VI. appointed him in 1964 as Bishop of Guaxupé. 1976 his resignation was by Pope Paul VI. granted.
