José Ferrer (guitarist)

José Ferrer Esteve de Fujadas ( cat. Josep Ferrer i Esteve de Pujadas, born March 13, 1835 in Girona, † March 7, 1916 in Barcelona) was a Spanish guitarist, composer and music educator.

Life

Ferrer grew up in Torroella de Montgrí. He learned to play guitar from his father and José Broca. He moved to Paris to teach there. He was, inter alia, with August Zurfluh ( student of Tárrega ) friends. Ferrer wrote primarily for his female students and concerted (also in duet with José Viñas ). His works Memories of Yester -year and six minuets won prizes. Later he taught at the Conservatorio Superior de Música del Liceu in Barcelona.
