José Gómez (footballer)

José Gervasio Gómez ( born October 23, 1949) is a former Uruguayan football player and coach.

Association

Offensive player Gómez belonged in 1974 to the squad of Club Atlético Cerro in the Uruguayan Primera División on. From there he moved to Spain where he joined Deportivo Alavés. For this club, he graduated from in the season 1974/75 eleven games ( no goals ) in the Segunda División in Spain. In 1976, Gómez joined by his previous club Cerro coming, Defensor to. There he became one of the legendary champion team in that year, which succeeded under the leadership of coach Ricardo de Leon, the first time since the introduction of professional football league in Uruguay to break the dominance of Nacional and Peñarol, who had split up at this time the championship among themselves. Gómez came in that championship season on the position of a midfielder to 1392 minutes of operating time. In the same year he also contributed actively to the profits of the Liguilla Pre Libertadores. National

Gómez was a member of the senior national team of Uruguay, for which he completed five matches between 28 March 1975 to 8 May 1975. An international goal he did not achieve it. Gomez participated in the 1974 World Cup with Uruguay. He did not come in the course of the competition, however, are used.
