Josef Bugala

Josef Bugala (* August 23, 1908; † February 1, 1999 in St. Leonhard am Hornerwald ) was an Austrian football player and member of the miracle team.

Career

The 1.75 m wide Goalkeeper of the SK Rapid Wien graduated from 1930 to 1931 two caps for Austria, scoring the extended squad of the miracle team. Against his nearest rivals Rudolf Hiden but he could not enforce the team. His debut in the Austrian national team celebrated Josef Bugala on November 16, 1930 in a 4-1 success of the Austrians against Sweden in Vienna. His second international match played Bugala on June 17, 1931 also in Vienna against Switzerland. This was the third game in the era of the miracle team. The Austrians won with goals from sound and Gschweidl 2-0.

His career began Bugala at Humanitas Heizhaus Hütteldorf. In 1929 he moved to SK Rapid Wien. There he played until 1933, and celebrated with the championship title and the Mitropapokalsieg 1930 his greatest successes at club level. From 1935 to 1946 Josef Bugala played for Post SV Wien and managed with the postal athletes 1935/36, promotion to the highest Austrian league. 1937 Bugala was Austrian amateur national champion with the Post SV Wien. After 1946 Josef Bugala played several years in small Lower Austrian clubs before 1952 ended his career.
