Josef Fischer (cyclist)

Josef Fischer ( born January 10, 1865 in Neukirchen beim Heiligenblut at Atzlern, Upper Palatinate, † March 3, 1953 in Munich) was the first major German road racing cyclist. In his time he was considered the best road riders in the world. In 1893, Fischer won the Distanzradfahrt Wien-Berlin. He was also the first winner of the race Paris -Roubaix in 1896. For 280 km it took 9 hours 17 minutes. In 1900 he won the race Bordeaux - Paris. In 1903, he took the only German part in the first staging of the Tour de France and was 15

Fischer's cycling career lasted from 1892 to 1904; from 1897 he had success as a track racer. In August 1894, he managed to be faster with the wheel as William Cody Junior (the son of Buffalo Bill) on a horse.

After his retirement from cycling fishing remained first in Paris and worked as a chauffeur for noble customers.
