Josef Frühwirth

Josef Frühwirth (* May 29, 1907; † February 1944 ) was an Austrian football player.

Career

Josef Frühwirth played his first league match for SK Rapid Wien in the 1927/28 season. Already in the following season the outside runner came to regular operations in the first team and was able to get with the Rapid Championship. In Mitropacup the Green-Whites reached the final, which was lost with 1:7 and 5:3 against FC Ferencvárosi, where Frühwirth was in all the competition playing on the course. In October 1928, he came to his only use of the national team, where he was employed in the 5-1 victory against Hungary as a right half.

The following season Hütteldorfer again won the championship, but Frühwirth could win a regular place and left with the end of season the club. He initially joined the SC Wacker Wien and moved in 1932 to the newly promoted FC Libertas Vienna, with whom he played for four years in the top division. In 1936 he took part in an engagement with the SK Sturm Graz and was able to immediately gain the Styrian championship.

He then worked as player-manager of CA Spora Luxembourg and could celebrate winning the 1938 national championship. On his return to Austria, he was still active for the Floridsdorfer AC and again for Sturm Graz.
