Josef Hilgers

Josef Hilgers SJ ( born September 9, 1858 in Kückhoven; † January 25, 1918 in St. Boniface house near Emmerich ) was a German theological writer and Jesuit priest.

Life

Born in 1858 Kückhoven Josef Hilgers was 1885-1894 worked as a teacher in the Danish city Ordrupshoj and then lived in Rome, Luxembourg, Valkenburg and finally in St. Boniface house at Emmerich, where he died in 1918. His literary activity was concerned particularly with the history of indulgences and papal censorship of books ( Index Librorum Prohibitorum ).
