Josef Holeček (writer)

Josef Holeček ( born February 27, 1853 in Stožice at Vodňany; † March 6, 1929 ) was Czech regional writer, representative of realism and the country prose, translator and journalist.

After his studies in Pisek, České Budějovice and Tábor, he worked in Zagreb as an educator. In 1875, he wrote as a war correspondent for the people sheet ( Národní listy ). As an avid Slawist he visited in subsequent years, Russia, Asia Minor and Constantinople Opel.

Works

He was a typical writer of rural literature. He described images perfect villages where evil can be combated by love among men.
